What is Neurofeedback?

Biofeedback Neurofeedback Wave ADD ADHD

Neurofeedback is a form of brain training that uses a computer program to give real-time feedback on your brain activity. Special games and training screens reward your brain when it reaches a healthy, optimal state—typically calm, focused, and relaxed.

When your brain achieves this state, the game responds (e.g., moves or scores points), reinforcing the desired mental activity. With repeated practice, it becomes easier for your brain to return to this optimal state. Think of it as exercise for your brain.

Clients regularly report improvements in attention, learning and memory.  They also notice reductions in anxiety and stress.

How Does Neurofeedback Help?

Clients often report:

  • Improved attention, learning, and memory

  • Reduced anxiety and stress

  • Better impulse control

Programs for Children

At the ADD Centre and Biofeedback Institute of Toronto, we offer personalized neurofeedback and biofeedback training designed specifically for children.

Neurofeedback

Children receive feedback on their brain activity and learn what it feels like to be calm and focused. They can even see their brainwave patterns in real time.

The Session

During a session, your child plays a game that moves or scores points only when they reach the desired mental state (e.g., sustained attention). This motivates them to stay focused while making the experience fun and engaging.

Research

Studies show that neurofeedback can lead to lasting improvements in attention and impulse control—without medication.

Programs for Adults

We also offer customized neurofeedback and biofeedback programs for adults seeking support in areas such as workplace performance, adult education, stress management, and mental clarity.

Combined Approach

Our training blends neurofeedback and biofeedback with evidence-based strategies to help adults improve focus, resilience, and cognitive control.

The Session

A computer program provides real-time feedback on brain and body signals. The goal is to learn to enter and maintain a calm, focused, and relaxed state.

How it works

Neurofeedback uses EEG technology to read your brainwaves and provides instant feedback when your brain enters an optimal state

--helping you build greater mental flexibility and control over time.
